SUBCONSCIOUSLY
What if the thoughts you’re afraid to say out loud… have been waiting for you to listen?
A space for the thoughts you don’t say, but feel everywhere.
SUBCONSCIOUSLY is where your unspoken thoughts finally have somewhere to land.
The quiet ones about love, self-worth, growth, and who you’re becoming.
The ones that feel a little too honest to admit.
This is a space to slow down and gently explore what’s really going on beneath the surface.
The patterns, emotions, and beliefs quietly shaping your life.
No pressure to have it all figured out.
Just honest reflections, real conversations, and learning yourself in real time.
Like a late-night conversation with someone who just gets it.
Just real thoughts.
Real feelings.
And the quiet, unfolding process of becoming.
SUBCONSCIOUSLY
Overthinking Everything: Where Does the Mind Even Go?
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode of Subconsciously, Shea lets her mind do exactly what it does best... wander. There’s no script, no plan, just the kind of honest, scattered stream of consciousness that feels like catching up with an old friend.
What starts with a rant about car traffic quickly spirals into talk about her current monthly favorites, random news stories that caught her attention, and an inevitable detour into corny dad jokes that make you groan and laugh at the same time. Somewhere in the mix, Halloween makes its entrance and her thoughts about Halloween and how she used to feel about it versus being a Christian and viewing Halloween.
It’s an episode that doesn’t follow a map but somehow finds its way — a comforting reminder that not every conversation has to be deep, structured, or tied up neatly with a bow. Sometimes, the beauty of being human is just thinking out loud.
So if your own mind has been running in circles lately, grab a drink, sit back, and join Shea on this unpredictable little journey of thoughts, tangents, and everything in between.
Welcome to Subconsciously. My name is Shay, and this is a place where I let my subconscious thoughts do the talking. Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Subconsciously. This is post-editing Shay. So you know when I have to get up on here and tell you what is going on in this episode, that already means it's a train wreck. So I just want to give you guys a heads up. This episode is complete subconscious, complete bouncing. You're going to see me go from topic to topic to topic. It's just a bunch of nonsense. So if you're here for nonsense, welcome to subconsciously. This is going to be the most goofiest train wreck of an episode. You go from one topic of it making sense, and you're like, okay, I can follow, I can follow. And then you're going to lose your mind a little bit and be like, what is going on? So I hope you guys enjoy this episode. And I truly hope you can take me at my worst. And I promise, most likely next week, you'll have a more cohesive episode. But here's a different side of my brain, and I hope you enjoy. Here's to navigating the train wreck. If it's gonna happen, then we're gonna happen. Hi guys, welcome back to another episode of Subconsciously. Welcome back to another episode of Subconsciously. Guys, my brain is running like a million miles per minute, but I'm also on a time crunch. So if none of the things that make sense in this episode come together at any point, I just want you to know this is now pure subconscious. Whatever happens, happens, whatever I choose to talk about is where my subconscious thoughts are gonna take place today. So let me start with traffic. Traffic, no matter where I go, no matter what time of day, it seems to be getting just so much worse. It seems to be getting to a point where even if you live in a very rural area, if you live in a very outskirt of suburbia, you know, traffic, you can't beat it, you can't win with it, you can't avoid it. It's there. And I think it's just the amount of people we have in this world, and I don't know, maybe more people have moved into this area. I have no clue. But let me just say, I'm getting fed up. I'm getting fed up of driving to work, I'm getting fed up of having to do anything anywhere. I'm just I'm fed up. I've just been in a state of fed upness. I'm fed up with things, I'm fed up with like so many little nuances that make me actually want to go a little bit berserk. Should I go into my monthly favorites, guys? I think that's the type of pod episode we're in right now, where my brain doesn't really know what to talk about. So here we go. My monthly favorites. Okay. So first and foremost, I have been diving into some new makeup products, and I thought I'd share them with you because in my coming to Revelations pod episode, I did do a little bit of a monthly favorites, and I thought I'd share some of my monthly favorites with you. And I've been trying out a bunch of different makeup, and this is not sponsored, I wish it was, but I've just realized I have been using a lot of new products. Here's what I recommend as a girly pop who's constantly using skincare, constantly using makeup, and let's go. Last time I talked about a hair product, and I talked about the Rare Beauty Luminizing blush, I think. It's like a blush topper highlighter thing. Anyways, so I'm gonna go in order of skincare routine to keep going with this. I have a lot of friends who struggle with acne, who struggle with breakouts, who struggle with very sensitive skin. And I learned this from a beauty influencer, but also I have been in the regiment for maybe almost a year now, I think. And I've almost finally gone through the whole bottle, and I can truly recommend to you it is it is the Bioma Hydrating Milky Toner with barrier lipids, polyglotamic acid, and Cisca. It is boosted barrier, better skin. It is in an orange bottle, and this is what it claims to do. So before I get into my explanation of why this is my favorite, I might as well tell you what it does. It is a hydrate and repair hydrating milky toner, an ultra-soothing face toner with barrier lipids, plus a super supportive duo of polyglometamic acid, plus ciska. The gentle milky formula helps lock in moisture across multiple layers of the skin, minimizing water loss for radiant, dewy results, and a stronger skin barrier. It's great for sensitive skin or sensitized skin, boosted barrier, better skin. It is also dermatologist-approved, vegan-friendly, and fragrance-free. And guess what? It's also made in Korea. I don't know why I just started getting like quieter as I started reading it, but I I kind of fell into that trend. Anyways, this is made in Korea. Oh my gosh, the milkiness of this toner is literally my favorite. I don't know what it is. I I think I bought it because I was already looking for a new toner, but then I was seeing like what are the best toners on the market? What is going on? Like, I've just I've been out of the game so long because I've been in my own element that I just wanted to pick something different. And so with this toner, I find because of the thickness or the velocity, is that the word velocity? Velocity? No, velocity sounds right. The thickness of this toner, it's very, very hydrating. And I found this toner because someone who had very, very high acne-prone skin used it on their face for three months and started to see how it was actually healing their skin barrier. And I was like, I don't really deal with extremely acne-prone skin, but I do find after using it, I've never had clearer skin because I only use three products on a daily. Let me be so for real. I only use three or four products on a daily. And I found this kind of does exactly what the niacinamide does, and evening out my skin texture, and I found that my skin has been way softer from using it, and like this is to pretty much give you a whole heads up of what I use. I use the Doki Cleanser, which is a Korean like cleanser, facial cleanser. I use the Bioma, and I use the Nivea facial moisturizer, I believe. I can definitely say to achieve really good skincare, you need at least three or four basic products, and the rest is really extra. For me, I find I need a really good hydrating facial cleanser, I need a milky toner, and I need a really thick moisturizer, not a cream, not a lotion, not a gel. It needs to be, it needs to be thick, like a thick cream, if anything, because my skin loves to soak up moisture like no one's business, but that's also my genetics. You need a really good sunscreen. Currently, I am using the Biore UV Aqua Rich Lightweight Moisturizer in SPF 50. I suggest getting an SPF 50. You can use it all year round, you're protected from everything. Personally, this is my first bottle of this, and this is like a really nice thick SPF. I'm currently always going through different SPF phases. I was using Centella, like the blue bottle one, for I want to say almost a year. I really liked it, but it left this weird residue on my face, in which I didn't really enjoy, and it felt like a sunscreen. Where this one genuinely feels like a moisturizer, but it has the SPF in it, and that's what my skin enjoys the most because it dries down properly with all my other products. Anyways, so that's my skincare I've been loving, especially the bioma one. I've been recommending it to people with eczema, I've been recommending it to people with acne, and I've just been recommending it all around because also it is a perfect skin prep and the perfect segue into makeup. So, what else have I been really enjoying in this process of life? Okay, the next one is a serum, but it's also like a really good makeup primer or like something to mix in with your foundation if you really love it. It is the e.l.f. Skin Thirst Burst Drops, Dewy and Brightening, 1% Hydrating Hibiscus Complex, plus 5% niacinamide, and it's for dry, oily in combination skin. How to use? There's three ways to do it. Use one to two pumps as a serum, a makeup primer, or mix with your fave foundations. More drops equals more glow. I love this stuff. Honestly, I find a really big difference with how my base lays when I use this. I personally have been trying to find a really good sticky based primer because I find a sticky base is a better base for priming. But I've been using this, mixing it with the Bioma Toner before I do my makeup. The glow, the glass skin you achieve is ridiculous. Anyways, that is my shout-out for Elf skin. If you haven't used it, I recommend it. I've let two or three of my friends use this, and they also really enjoy it to the point where sometimes this runs out faster than when I use it by myself. Oh, I love you guys. If you guys are listening, what else have I been enjoying? Oh, I first tried NYX or NYX for their buttermelt bronzer, but I have a new obsession actually, and it is the buttermelt blush. This kind of gives me the same feeling that the Rare Beauty Luminizing Blush used to give me. This is in the shade You Know Butter. It's a shimmering coral, and it's known as a butter blush. And let me just tell you guys, as I open this up, this gives me the exact same feeling as the other one. It has like reflex in it, but I would use this as a blush topper. So I would still go in with like my original liquid blush, and I'm not much of a highlight girl anymore. But what really gives me that everyday glowy skin, and sometimes I don't even put the other blush on the bottom. Sometimes I'm feeling lazy. I just want to swipe this on my cheeks and call it a day. This has been my holy grail in terms of everyday makeup, has been this blush because I can use it every single day. And sometimes I don't got time. I don't got time to sit here and like just do makeup all the time. Okay. I I have a time crunch. I'm a busy woman. Okay. So I swear by this one. I think it's one of the cheaper blushes I got. Well, obviously it's drugstore, but I love finding products, as you can probably tell, that are drugstore and that are on the cheaper side. I don't like breaking the bank for certain products, mainly because I find I have been very blessed with skin that has not had like cystic acne or anything like that. And I've been very blessed with that. And so I find the less I do the better, but I still want products that work properly. And if you want cheap products that work for you and you might want to test out, maybe you're in that realm of playing, I would definitely recommend the NYX butter blushes. They are pigmented, you don't need a lot of it, but if you do want to layer it, they are perfect for layering. What else has been my favorite? Oh, I have a lip color. I have a lip color that's my favorite. It is surprise, surprise, also drugstore. It is the NYX Launder XXL in the shade LXXL 25 Candela Babe. And it's a matte liquid lipstick. I last time I put on a matte liquid lipstick, I was in high school. This tone, when I tell you, it's like light when you first put it on to the point where you're like, oh, that's not my shade, like at all. But I find with these guys, I'm putting it on as we speak, guys, is that they apply super light, but then they oxidize. I believe it oxidizes as it dries, which makes it a little bit of a darker color. I had no idea if that's just me, if I'm making this up, but I find it dries down darker than I put it on. Because when I put it on originally, it's just a really light but nude type of matte liquid lipstick. It's not like ultimately dark, but it's dark enough where you're like, oh, that's a chef. That's not the color I put on initially. Turns into a beautiful nude. Anyways, moving on. I guess in a mini update, what have I been doing? I have been going to different churches. I celebrated a birthday, and I think I told you guys last episode I sang, and it's gonna happen again, I believe. And I'm not gonna tell you guys yet because I'm I'm gonna kind of keep that one on the DL, but I'm really excited. I haven't been excited for a really long time when it came to music and when I came to life. I find that I might be losing my mind, losing a bit of my spark right now. I don't know if it's the season. I don't know, but I'm trying not to dwell on it. I'm just trying to let the lord do his thing and just do what he wants with me. Because honestly, I'm I'm a little lost. Anyways, next thing. Where am I what am I gonna eat tonight, guys? I'm eating sushi. Specifically, I would like sashimi, I would like a salmon don. I would like some rice and some raw fish and some soy sauce, and maybe some spice, and maybe just feel something. Oh my goodness. What is even going on in the world right now? Let's Google it. Let's read you some news. Let me tell you what's going on in my side of the world. Okay, funny news. I want funny news. Guys, I can't even make this up. This is from Readers Digest Canada. It says, goat arrested after walking into Saskatchewan Tim Hortons refusing to leave. He was very unhappy. This is the title. And then it says, as Canada's national police force, the RCMP is no stranger to odd complaints. Case in point, an autumn night in 2015, when officers were called to a Martinsville, Saskatchewan, DeMhortons to remove a goat that refused to leave. As reported by the National Post, he was very unhappy with this, so the members decided to take him home instead of two holding cells at detachment. Read a cheeky RCMP news release. Organizers of the University of Saskatchewan Rodeo later said that the goat escaped from their event the previous night. What the heck type of news is this? Okay, that was 2015. I want something recent. I want something that makes me laugh. Guys, I've been yapping here for a full 24 minutes, and I don't know if any of this is making it into the episode, but we can always try. Funny jokes, haha. Funny jokes, haha. Okay, guys. This is your favorite part of the segment. Horrible jokes. Let's do some thir 30. Nope, that does not say 30. 300 corny dad jokes that will make anyone laugh and groan. These fresh jokes for 2025 are so bad they're funny. What kind of shoes do frogs wear? Open toed sandals. Alright. Halloween is coming.
unknownAh!
SPEAKER_00What a horrible segue. Halloween is coming next week, guys. By the time this episode comes out, Halloween will be on Friday. Let me just say, I have not planned any costume. I barely celebrate Halloween. If anything, my father's probably gonna put me on candy duty. And we don't have a lot of kids in our area, but if there is a kid, they're gonna get a whole bucket of candy. Because we don't get kids to our house. People don't approach our house. I don't know why. It's fine. Anyways, the reason why I brought up Halloween is because as a Christian, I personally do not celebrate Halloween. But for work, I do just wear a little bit of a costume just to blend in with everyone at work. But it's never anything demonic, it's never anything like scary or evil. I usually pick like the most cutest Disney character and I just kind of roll with it. Or I'm a cat every Halloween, just because I wear it to work, and then as soon as I go home, I take it off because I just I don't know. I can feel the conviction when I like talk about Halloween. Maybe because it's a very demonic, I guess, quote unquote holiday. I don't know. I personally just feel very convicted when I do Halloween things, and so Halloween is next week. I have not gotten a costume, and if anything, I'm gonna be a cat again. Every year I'm a darn cat. I'm a darn cat, guys. But at the same time, I don't want to be a cat again. I wanted to be the little girl from Spirited Away, but then that's a lot of effort. And then I wanted to be maybe Winnie the Pooh, but then that's a lot of effort. And then I was like, maybe I'll just be Vanelope from Wreck It Ralph. Just give myself a bunch of candy, tape it to my head, you know, it'd just be a whole thing. I can just wear the same thing that I usually do, which is a hoodie and all these things. But then that takes a lot of work. And it's just I don't want to put effort into something that is only gonna last a day. I'm not really gonna wear it for that long, maybe like four hours. And then I'm gonna have to take it all off. Like, I don't want to have to wake up early to Wear a Halloween costume or get ready to wear a Halloween costume. And then like one year, this was like pre-Christ me. I was like Stewie from Family Guy, and that was really cute. I literally wore like red, like a red shirt overall thing with like a yellow shirt, and I made myself look like him, I don't know, outfit-wise. But I don't know, Halloween has always been one of those things that I've just never been truly interested in. Even when I was younger, like when I was dressing up as like a witch or like I don't know, a princess, or you know, just the thought of having to beg strangers for candy just seems really odd when I say it out loud like that. What if you're saying trick or treat, but you're getting no treats, you're just getting tricked? I don't like pranks. I don't I don't want to be a part of that. Anyways, that's a whole other thing to get into when Halloween comes around. It is 5 36. I've been yapping for a long time. And it's been 30 minutes, and I don't know why. My brain is just not in a place to just be cohesive. So I hope you just enjoyed me. Just yap about absolutely nothing, tell you an awful joke. Maybe next week there'll be something actually entertaining. But until then, guys, I want to thank you so much for listening to the subconsciously podcast. It really warms my heart, and I just thank you for listening. I learned the other day, before I even end this episode, I learned the other day as I was going through my stats, I have a lot of fans from the Netherlands. I don't know what accent you guys have, but I don't know why I immediately went British, because that's wrong. But I just want to say hi to all the people in the Netherlands and all over the world. I didn't realize how far this pod is going because I had the genuine realization the other day that I am not stuck in Canada only. I am traveling everywhere. So wherever you are, I just want to say thank you for supporting the pod. Thank you for listening. Thank you for letting my subconscious just have a deep dive. If you have any suggestions of what you would like to hear next episode, you can DM my subconsciously Instagram account. It is S-C O O P S U B C O N S C I O U S L Y. I want you to become my best friend. Okay. I want to make some besties during this podcast journey. I don't want to just be talking to myself because that's a little boring, guys. Come on, we can step up our game. Oh my goodness. Anyways, again, I have fun things planned, but also I promise next week will be a more consistent episode. I just had an hour to just kind of let my subconscious do its thing. And I didn't feel like being very, very serious with you guys today. I feel like the world was serious enough this week. But thank you for all the support that you've given on you waited too long, and I promise you guys won't be waiting too long again. I'm trying, even if my brain doesn't want to do it. I'm going to be consistent and give you something every week. If it's not the greatest, it's fine. That just means the podcast episode is a little shorter that week, you know? But, anyways, I seriously thank you again for all your support and all your love. Knowing that I can impact your life makes me feel very, very honored and very special that you want to even hear me talk and rant and just be very human. That's truly what I want. I just want to be super genuine, super honest, and human with everyone. And I just can't thank you enough for all your love and support. Even though subconsciously is only like a year old. I still thank you for all the love that you have really put into this. It makes me smile every time I hear people like, the pod's coming back. Oh, oh my goodness. Like, how how have you been? Why haven't you started the pod in a while? Like, come on, like, get it together. And it just makes me smile. So I just want to thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for that. And I will see you guys on Scoop Subconsciously for more behind the scenes possibly for more content. And you'll probably find my main account on there, but you won't know until you check. So thank you guys for listening for the five millionth time that I said it. And I will catch you guys next week where my subconscious thoughts do the talking. Bye guys.
